Dear
Ms. Caven and Mr. O’Dell,
My
name is Ashley St. Helens Prince, and one of my former professors
suggested—well, she quite insisted, actually—that I write to you. She says you
are seeking real-life stories of people whose lives resemble fairytales, and
you want to write a musical! It’s been a long time, but I was somewhat famous
back in college for my high-school Cinderella story; even annoyingly so, since
I studied at Castleton College and got a little sick of the media’s devotion
(I’m not really a spotlight-seeker; and I really wanted to move on). But when I
saw your video on IndieGogo, I just loved the music, and I think you might like
my story, as well. So let me tell you about myself.
A
little about me: my mom died when I was in eighth grade, my dad re-married when
I was in high school, and died a year later, leaving me to live with my
stepmother and two stepsisters. My “fairy godmother” helped me get to the prom
(including one heck of a makeover, let me tell you), where the guy I had liked since second grade kind of
“magically” picked me out of the crowd and I became an instant prom queen—now a
wonderful memory! There is plenty of dark stuff in my story, too, but I didn’t
want to put it all out there unless I knew you were still looking for a
Cinderella.
Are
you? Please let me know. I await your response with stockinged feet, as our
mythic heroine must have, not knowing what the future would bring…
Sincerely,
Ashley St. Helens Prince
